‘Bullyish’ behaviour will stop, says new Indigenous Affairs minister

New Indigenous Affairs Minister Keith Chiasson is eager to mend relationships with First Nations after the tensions of the previous Progressive Conservative government. Chiasson plans to meet with Mi’kmaq chiefs and the Wolastoqey Nation to listen to their concerns and work on rebuilding trust. The Liberal government aims to renegotiate tax-sharing agreements, foster collaboration, and improve healthcare for Indigenous communities. Chiasson, however, remains cautious about commenting on ongoing title claims and is focused on understanding the needs of First Nations before making decisions.
